Spectrum of spirituality

Spent the evening at an interfaith gathering hosted at the Quaker Meeting House by the Liverpool Spectrum of Spirituality.

I've fallen out with religion so was a little sceptical before arriving. I'm pleased to say I really enjoyed the service as it sought to celebrate faith from a range of religious denominations. We were treated songs from the LGBT choir; Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist and Pagan readings and even a Hawaiian prayer. Wonderful to see people share their beliefs without criticism or judgement.

The service celebrated water, an element which connects and nourishes all life.

This was the concluding affirmation...
I am but a top of water
Alone, I would disappear,
Dried up by the scorching sun
Or sucked by the dry, thirsty earth.
But together we can wear out stones.
Carve away into great canyons.
As streams of living water
We can change the landscape
On our way to the glimmering sea.
