Mother and daughter

C and P, seen here, were in Edinburgh for the weekend, as C is thinking of applying to Edinburgh University. They attended the open day yesterday, and coming to us for lunch today was a good opportunity for us to talk a bit more about the things she might want to take into account when applying.

It was good to see P, whom I've only seen once or twice in about 20 years. When we lived in Nottingham, she was one of the people who was really helpful with my son, who was then about six. In fact, as far as P is concerned, he still is six, and she refused to countenance picture evidence to the contrary. Or indeed the information that he had literally flown back to the UK for **one night** (and a wedding) and is currently en route back to Singapore. Now that does my head in.

Other than preparing lunch (and shopping), we've had a pretty quiet day. I'm giving my knees a rest from pounding pavements. They've said "thanks very much; we really appreciate it".
