Flying High?

A fellow blipper, my friend Jo has been driving high recently on her '3000 miles in a Mini' trip which is raising funds for Alzheimers Research UK.  Follow her trip on her blip journal - Missjatravers - Video Diary here - Donate here.

I am on a mission at present to show off some of the beautiful autumn flowering plants and bulbs in the garden.  Cyclamen graecum is one such.  Not usually regarded as suitable for the open garden, unlike the similar Cyclamen hederifolium, this is a triumph as the plants are flowering profusely in a raised bed.  The secret is the deep drainage, very poor, gritty soil at the top of the bed around the corms but the roots plunge deep into the natural soil.  Heat in summer is important for flower power, the corms sit just below the surface and get baked in hot weather which mimics their native haunts in Greece and Turkey.
