On Guard

To escape we might have to
sneak behind his back
and hope he doesn’t turn round.
He clearly assumes any attack

will come from the front.
This height gives us an advantage.
We could drop the metal table on his head.
Knock him dead. Break out of this cage.

But then what? Go where. What if
it rains and a cold wind doth blow?
We are, in a sense, safe here. For now.
Stay? Go? What do you  think? I don’t know.
