Merchant House - Tudor Ceiling Detail

Had coffee with friends this morning in an old Merchant's House, turned into a Bistro. The Building is about 300 years old with the ceiling completed by members of the prominent school of North Devon Plasterers on July 9th 1620.

The coats of arms that you can see in the plasterwork belong to the company of Spanish merchants who owned the house and also the Borough of Barnstaple.

It is a truly magnificent piece of history - and a superb place to have a morning break with friends!
