Over the other side

Last week the walking group went on the Mapua ferry and we almost sailed to this spot which is across from the Mapua Wharf but at it's widest point.
So today was meeting day for the group and an easy quick walk from the end of Hoddy's road round the beach and back over a private road. Not long and not difficult.
This yacht called Wild Goose hasn't been sailed in for years and looks a very sorry sight close up.
The extra is of a project by a chap back in the 1980's? who set to to build a submarine of ferro cement. It was all the rage at the time to build boats
of this material in your back yard and they were successful. This may have been too but it never got past this stage. It is upside down as the people whose property it was on rolled it down the hill and it ended up on the foreshore. They had only let the chap use their place thinking it was a short term project but the builder was a dreamer, a user, a lazy person and that was why he failed- according to the story teller.
Anyway a very enjoyable walk getting home just before the misty rain set in.
