Too pretty for pumpkin pie

Pretty organic pumpkins for sale at our local greengrocer. I would have called these gourds but the greengrocer thought otherwise. Maybe it us a marketing ploy with October, the month that contains Halloween, starting on Saturday.
I have never cooked pumpkins but at the back of this pile there were a couple of butternut squash which I do bake sometimes.
