Malachite Sunbird

A day in the Suikerbosrand national park. For countryside that is so arid and has such viciously thorny and dried vegetation, it supports a incredible diversity and sheer quantity of wildlife. There were different species of birds everywhere and 5 species of Antelope plus baboons and a mongoose. Cresting one hill on a short but rather warm and breathless walk (we are up at 1600m) we came face to face with a small group of Zebras. They were not too bothered and merely kept a respectful distance, along with the various Antelope and Wildebeest. Yes, we even saw 'a herd of Wildebeest sweeping majestically' over the plain.

Extra: Crested Barbet
