Me and mother went for morning tea in the castle. The castle's a bit like Faversham - it's not really a castle but just a big house, with added castellations and 'old' stone walls, which are probably a lot newer than the actual stone walls underneath.
Still, there are some very pretty gardens and the Orangery Tea Rooms do a damn fine cream tea. And carrot cake. And pink lemonade. Indulgence is allowed on holiday, right?

Suitably filled with goodies, we carried on up the hill, and then down to the beach. It was low tide, so we walked along 'The Street', a narrow spit of land about half a mile long. It goes out perpendicular to the coast, but it was so quiet that even right out at the end we could still hear the conversations of people further along the beach. It was quite spooky really.

Our afternoon was very lazy - we went in a few shops in town, then chilled at home and read/watched the Olympics. In the evening and after dinner we went down to the sea. We sat and dangled our legs off the pontoon and watched some kids at the bottom catching various sea creatures. The sunset started off fairly average, and developed into a rather spectacular one. Graham phoned me and we chatted for aaaages, while I tried not to get too distracted by cute dogs/sinking in wet sand/huge oyster shells.
