The Green Bridge of Wales

The Green Bridge of Wales is one of the most spectacular sites on the Pembrokeshire Coast.  Unfortunately it is situated in the Castlemartin MoD Training Area and is normally inaccessible to the public - however today we could get to it and the surrounding Stack Rocks.
Once upon a time the arch was just a promontory of limestone rock, jutting into the sea. It was solid, with no hole or arch.  At first, it is likely that the sea made a cave in each side of the spur. As the sea gradually washed more rock away, the two caves joined together to make an arch.
One day in the future the centre of the arch will collapse, and the arch will become a stack - but I've got my Blip :-)

Mrs MD & Polly dog were with me - enjoying the sun and the views.  Her Blip is here.
