Back 'home'

We are now back in Bonnieux after our trip South and it’s good to be ‘home’, although we have had a great time away.

This is just down the road from our house and is part of the original fortifications, built in troubled times at the highest point of the village, probably around 800 years ago. I am always fascinated when I walk past to see how the wall was built on top of and into the original rock. Many of the oldest houses in the village were built in the same way. A few years ago we met up with a couple who were staying in one of these old houses and they showed us a door through the back of the house leading to what was really a huge cave inside the rock - extraordinary.

(This afternoon we 'Skyped' with two daughters and three grandchildren, all gathered in Kent to celebrate a tenth birthday tomorrow - just amazing that we could do this.)
