By a horseshoe bend in the River Severn

Despite the incessant heavy rain showers which prevailed since dawn I wanted to go back to the river at Epney where we went last weekend. We'd seen large flocks of geese feeding on the nearby meadows and then flying in formation to feed on the sandbanks at the river's edge as the tide flowed in.

Unfortunately they seemed to have gone elsewhere today and all I could see were gulls feeding, crows in the nearby trees and a few ducks floating down the river. By the time I got there the sun had come out so I just enjoyed standing on the high bank watching the banks of clouds approaching and the wind whistling through the reed beds below the bank.

In the distance the light on the Malvern Hills changed minute by minute as did the patterns on the water flowing downstream against the tidal flow going inland. When the clouds hid the sunshine I went shopping in Gloucester before returning home in the early rush hour on a Friday afternoon.
