Raining grain...

A whole day without rain, but not a lot of drying. The fog rolled in for an hour this morning then burned off again.
Spent the day drying wet barley,. This stuff was at 21% moisture so took a lot longer and twice as much diesel to get down to 16%.. Checked the barley field at various times this afternoon, but still about 23% so decided it was too wet to cut. Just to add insult to injury, heard the next door neighbour fire up a combine about 4.30 pm and they were still going after dark. They either have a better dryer or their field was drier as it is more open , as ours is behind a wood.
Wee brother brougt the 70 bullocks into the shed for the winter as they are starting to grow hair now,and it is definitely more autumnal in the mornings now.
The extra was this cloud over Edinburgh this morning. Is it just me,or does it kind of look like an overweight goose flying East? Or maybe the harvest is getting to me !
