No admittance

I am guessing this is the old entrance to a former private  estate but this gateway is now off one of those old public footpaths that you know must once have been a road- see extra.   You can tell its been here a long time (look carefully at the tree and the fence) and I can imagine horses and carriages going through there 150 years ago.   The Forestry Commission was created in 1919  and that's probably when they took over the woodland from the previous private owners.  I think it qualifies for Derelict Sunday. 
PS, having posted this I got a "Congratulations on your 1000th entry " message. If I had known I would have made an effort. to do something clever like so many of you do. Too late now
