Recovery Reflections

Paul went in for his hip surgery early this morning. I came home to wait for the surgeon to call (which he never did) then went back in to the hospital around 3:00 after a recovery room nurse called. He was groggy when I arrived in his room, but he immediately told me something was not right. Trying not to panic until I knew what was happening, he said he woke up with excruciating pain that they seemed surprised by & had difficulty controlling (took 3 shots). Then he was bleeding through the gauze (+gown & sheets) at the incision site. They put several more layers over the bandages & iced him continually. He was not allowed out of bed because of this complication & hinted that a transfusion may be needed. That didn't happen, though the area did continue to drain. I was obviously concerned, but it seems to be lessening.

A quick blip from the fairy garden with its newest addition.
