The Green Man in Mono

As today's Mono challenge comes with a twist of 'roots' my eye was drawn to my 'Green Man' plaque on the wall, as he is supposed to be the spirit of the forest and entwined with tree roots as arms, legs and his whole body, including his hair, face, mouth and beard. His female counterpart is called Sheela Na Gig. These carvings are a bit on the X-rated side though. There are many ancient carvings of both of these figures in old buildings and sometimes carved into the wooden beams of old houses.
There is a rather nice example in the very old Post Office in the High Sreet in Steyning, West Sussex. For those of you in this area. It is inside the shop on a high beam adjacent to the door, above the window. I hope the post office is still there, I haven't been there for a while.
