Olympic Judo

Bruce and I had tickets for a full day of Judo at the Excel Centre, where we hoped to see Team GB (and Scottish) Euan Burton in the Mens Under 81KG and Gemma Howell in the Womens U63kg.

The atmosphere was electric, when Euan and Gemma came out the roof nearly came off . Unfortunately both exited in the first round.

In the morning we sat with the Japanese supporters who are mental, then in the afternoon different seats with the French, equally as passionate and crazy.

This picture is of the German Ole Bischof and USA Travis Stevens for a place in the final. It was the best judo fight I have ever seen, going to Golden Score. Ole deserved the win, but it should have been the final for Gold and Silver. Ole won and went on to lose to the Korean Jae-Bum Kim in the final who was also immense. However my favourite was the American for sheer guts and determination.

Here Travis knows he has lost it and won't get a shot at gold.
