Holiday Blip 6

Second day with the hire car and time for us to head East and North.  We headed out around the North of Arrecife towards Tahiche where we turned onto the East coast road to Jameos del Aqua.  The lava tube has been turned into a wonderful attraction and a visitors centre to explain how the caves were created.

Next we headed to the far North of the island to the Mirador del Rio.  From the entrance it looks very plain but once you go inside it opens out into a large room with glass walls and viewing galleries set right on the edge of the cliffs.  The views to La Graciosa were fantastic.

Our drive back down took us through the village of Haria then down through the valley of 1000 palm trees.  We stopped at a village on the shore to have a cool drink before heading to the Cueva de los Verdes.  These “green” caves were a sharp contrast to the other caves.  Apart from some lighting and paths the caves are very much in their natural state.  A fantastic experience with a special surprise at the end of the tour.

We had a quick stop in Costa Teguise as Mrs F had stayed there many years ago.  Then back to the hotel to chill out for the night.
