Holiday on the island of Madeira

After a 15 minute cable car ride in Madeira I visited a museum which featured stone carvings from Africa. There were several hundred on show but the main photo  depicts the type of artwork on display.
The extra photo shows the burnt out shell of a house located immediately beneath the cable lift. This is just one example of hundreds of properties damaged or destroyed by a fire which lasted for a total of 6 weeks and spread throughout  parts of a dense forest area.
