Support Hay-on-Wye Castle

This is part of a wooden buttress that supports a retaining wall above which is the castle. Fortunately the beams are big and generally solid, this is just surface wear.
The main fortress within Hay-on-Wye was situated on the great site commanding the town and river under the current ruins of the castle and mansion. It is possible that this is the oldest Norman tower in Wales, dating to 1070.
Late this afternoon 3 of us left Jane to look after the neurotic cat for a few more days. Me for work, Rosie to find some accommodation in Leeds for her final year and Adam back to job hunting.
