Big Seven O

Sailed today to Zadar, a beautiful old city with Roman, Venetian and Austrian influences. It was TJ's 70th birthday today, so I'd taken some family cards with me for the big day.

We had a guided tour of the town and then were free to do our own thing, which included visiting the Sea Organ. This is a modern installation of plastic pipes fitted in to the sea wall which have different diameters. When the sea hits the pipes, air is blown in and comes out again through holes on the promenade, making an amazing musical sound. Really spectacular:-)

There was also a circular solar panel, which collected sunlight during the day and lit up beautifully at night. Quite unique.

Had a birthday meal for TJ with new friends at a restaurant overlooking the sea and watched the glorious sunset, described by Hemmingway as the most beautiful in the world. He obviously hadn't been to the Western Isles of Scotland, but it was very beautiful:-)

Moored here overnight, with wonderful views of the old town and the huge luxury yachts in the harbour. Could get used to this life:-)
