Handover

Up at 5.45, breakfast at 6, clear the sports hall by 7.15, on the mini bus at 7.30, south to Slaley by 8.10 and it's Relay Day!

I took several hundred photos today around the fast moving event with teams of three comprising a 14, 16 and 18 year old completing courses out in the forest.  The finish was quite a novelty with the athletes running in to the assembly field and beneath the bridge in the back of my blip.  It made for a great spot for spectators as they could also see across to the two spectator controls.

My blip is of the relay handover between one of the Welsh and one of the Irish teams.  The incoming runner tags their team mate and heads in to the finish whilst the next leg runner heads out to the forest.  It makes for exciting stuff.

England had an excellent day today to finish in first position overall, so a very tired but happy mini bus full of youngsters on the way home.

We had several drop-offs to do on the way home so although we left at 12.50, we didn't get in till 7pm.  Long day, looking forward to bed now!  Fantastic weekend in excellent company once again.
