The Liar

It's a play about a man who can not tell the truth and his long lost brother who can not tell a lie. These are the ladies who become entangled in the lies. It is a play full of iambic pentameter (which is a commonly used metrical line in traditional verse and verse drama. The term describes the particular rhythm that the words establish.)

The Liar, by David Ives, was the first play to open in the new home of the Dolphin Players. The Dolphin Players Theater is just down the street from Annie's Cottage. My mum lived on the same street that the Cottage is on, when she was a little girl, and the new theater building was a movie theater when she was young. It is absolutely wonderful seeing life return to the old theater.

The Dolphin Players have worked very hard to establish their new home. We were amazed at how they set their goal on opening and began rehearsals for this play before they had the inside of the theater anywhere near complete. The show is an amazing demonstration of their immense dedication and hard work. When I walked in to sell tickets before the show, the Director was atop a ladder telling Paul that she had a couple lights out and the sound wasn't working right. Somehow, in less than a half hour, it was all going smoothly and they were ready to begin. It went off without at hitch!
