Tree Turns Into Totem

This was my favourite tree in the park near my Northampton place. Its canopy gave shade to many a picnic or shelter from the rain.

However, the inevitable circle of life meant it began to die and was deemed unsafe. So here it is after its limbs were severed a few days ago. Sad in a way - but I think it has a different kind of presence now. Made me think of those American Indian totems.
