Conch shack

Los Roques is famous for its "pancakes". These are flat outcrops where the water laps over at different stages of the tide. Bone fish roam over these expanses and you can cast a fly to them, wading in the shallow water. Before the bone fishing started and a little bot of tourism, this was a wholly subsistence economy and one of the main crops was conch.

Conch shells are piled high in some of these fishing stations right out in the middle of nowhere. If it looks hot, it's because it is hot. I think I'd just got my D200 when this image was taken.
