Kingsbury Water Park

This latest trip to the Midlands was primarily for Christiescruffs and I to look at an oak bench that the Spotlight Kid and I have had installed in memory of our parents, to replace one that had been there since 2000, when our mother passed on.

We drove directly to Kingsbury, stopping only at Barford to photograph a rather fine bridge over the River Avon that we always pass by on the Fosse Way with the intention of stopping another time. This time we were stuck behind a slow moving truck in a long line of traffic so it seemed an ideal opportunity.

As is tradition we parked at the Dog And Doublet, which is beside the Birmingham and Fazeley canal, and had lunch there before approaching Kingsbury Water Park from the towpath. When we reached Canal Pool we could see in the distance a family of swans gliding up to the spot where the bench was. When we reached the bench, and established that all was in order, they were all making for the small island at the centre of the pool. This blip was taken from the edge of pool just in front of the bench.

After returning to the pub for a cappuccino we drove on to the house in Sutton Coldfield to do some work there. I sorted through books and papers in the house while Christiescruffs laboured in the garden, filling several bags of green waste for recycling.

We had to return to the pub as I realised I'd left the Sigma lens hood on a table there. It had been handed in, but subsequently lost, irritatingly. It was a glorious evening, though, and we sat by the canal watching the red sun sink to the horizon in a pink sky as moorhens dabbled on the water.
