Flamingo Feathers

The first thing a visitor to the San Diego Zoo sees is the flamingo pool According to the sign it has been welcoming guests to the park for more than 50 years and it is easy to see why. These pink birds are so photogenic it is a great way to get into the photographic spirit right away. We were at the zoo with a former Colombian exchange student and her family (husband, kids, mother, father). She lived with us back in 2002 for ten months and we last saw her at her wedding in South America. What a joy to be able to reconnect after so many years (see extra) in such a wonderful place (though it was incredibly hot and crowded when we first arrived). A perfect ending to our trip.
