Östersund City Hall

Today and tomorrow I'm working in Östersund at the university.
This is Östersund's townhall which was completed in 1912. It's built in "the national romantic style" and is probably the most well known building in this city. It is 51 meters tall and contains 136 rooms.
The onion-shaped bell tower makes some people think of Russia but that particular style is also typical of northern Scandinavia.
As always it is lovely to be in Östersund where I spent the first 4 years of my Swedish life!
Jan and I drove here this morning and parked on a chilly picnic spot to stretch our legs and drink a cup of coffee.  We chose the spot for the grand view over distant fields and forest but after ten minutes a lorry arrived and parked strategically - see the extra for our sudden non-view!
