Common Ink Cap (Coprinopsis atramentaria)

I've watched this emerge from the gravel by the back door, starting as an egg shape and maturing into a more traditional cap and stem. It is so called because it turns black as it deliquesces (liquifies and dissolves by absorbing moisture from the air), thus becomes 'ink' like.

Tent drying and kit washing today. Physio exercises in the garden and caught up on a little sleep.
