Loons at North Barriere Lake

It is very unusual to see three loons together. These loons were not making the familiar call but were making a very loud squawking noise accompanied by big splashes. When I was able to see them through the trees I saw one of them making most of the commotion by rising out of the water as far as possible using its wings and then splashing down . I'm not sure what it was doing. It is too late in the season for mating displays. Possibly it was trying to round up some fish.
