Derwent Walk

In the main it has been a nice autumn day today so we went for a walk along part of the Derwent Walk.  This was formerly the Derwent Valley Railway which was opened in 1867 and closed in 1962.  At its peak it carried half a million passengers a year along with timber, bricks, coal to Newcastle and iron ore to Consett.

Today it was a bit muddy but it was good to get out and about.
