Fall

Took my first stroll today of what I hope will be the recommencement of my daily walk. And the first time I have wandered off into the flood plain of the River Dordogne opposite my new house. A network of single-track roads wend their way through wood and farmland, crossing streams and paths, granite cliffs on the far side of the river cutting sharp against a blue sky. It was a stunning autumn afternoon with the sun warming the skin, creeper turning red on trees that have still to shed turning leaves, and dappled shadows falling across warm asphalt. I did a leisurely circuit that took about an hour and felt much restored.
