Another Station

Tomorrow voters will choose a new MP for the Batley and Spen constituency. The by-election was prompted by the death of Labour MP Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed outside the library in Birstall, back in June this year.

Out of respect, the main parties  Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and UKIP have all said they will not be fielding a candidate. The Labour nomination, local girl and former Coronation Street actress Tracey Brabin, is therefore up against a a rag bag collection of nine others. These include the likes of Corbyn Anti - By Election Protest; No to terrorism, yes to Britain; National Front; BNP; English Democrats; The One Love Party and three independents.

Five of the buildings that I manage will be used as polling stations from 7 am. All the voting booths, signs and other bits and pieces were already in place when I visited today.
