A day out with my Mum today.

I love these ancient streets - this is around Smithfield, an area that escaped damage during the Great Fire of 1666 due to the wind direction. As a result there are still lots of very old buildings and narrow streets.

The tower block in the background is the Barbican.

Extras are the rear of the gateway to the church of St Bartholomew the Great, and one of the William Wallace memorials (he was executed here in 1305).
