The Morton Monument in Dalkeith.

This portrays James Douglas, the 1st Earl Morton, and his wife Joan, the daughter of King James I of Scotland, who was deaf and mute from birth and was referred to in ancient documents as La Muta Domina. Their memorial can be found in St. Nicholas Church Apse in Dalkeith. I choose it for today as the new theme for Calumet group is LOVE and what can be more symbolic of love than laying side by side for over 500 years.
