string theory...

...of the mozzarella variety and leading R to the Caveman Pizza!

R and S are my city living buddies within a hop, skip and jump of Northbridge and S and I have spent many a happy day chatting, sipping and lunching there.

Originally freshwater swamps. convict labour in the 1860s drained the swamps and Western Australia's gold boom saw the construction of hotels to accommodate prospectors.
Around WW1 the area became home to migrating Europeans and by the 1950s alfresco lifestyle and coffee shops were all the go.  As were family run shops importing goods from Europe , a far cry form the British based diet of the colonials.
Now side by side there are Greek and Italian restaurants, noodles and dim sum, Korean butchers and Indian restaurants, bars, brewers and tiny coffee shops and the old gold boom hotels still standing strong.

Today we had lunch at the Northbridge Brewing Company brewing a range of beers ( this for beer aficionado Pilipo) including the 'Canimals' (extra) , 946ml (32 fluid ounces hence the weird volume!) takeaway cans of their brew (extra).
This takes me WAY back to uni days in Britain when '4 pint cans' were a part of everyday life the empties often sculptural creations inside and outside many a student flat.
