Kinsale Marina

A day up in the big city! There were various reasons for this expedition, two exciting ones:
1. The purchase of a new camera! After a bit of dithering I have gone for a Canon Powershot G7x - very small but pretty powerful. First shot above - not Cork but Kinsale where we spent the night. Lots to learn but so far so good.
2. I had to go to the City Museum to view some sculptures which had been retrieved from the bowels of the museum especially for me. And very interesting they were too! They had once graced a holy well I visited recently but had been removed by archaeologists 20 years ago, supposedly for their safe keeping but much to the chagrin of the well keeper. Rather rustic depictions of the BVM and S Bernadette, hewn by a man with one arm! You'll have to wait till the next blog to see them.

As we left the city a huge fire had broken out in one of the department stores and the centre had come to a standstill. We continued to Kinsale and stayed overnight - this was the view from the hotel. Some rather posh yachts in evidence. We ate in a very good Italian place- a white pizza ie no tomato sauce but goat's cheese, mozzarella, pears and walnuts - very good.
