This was on a dogrose

Another warm day today,with sun, yipee!
Went out early and walked back to the village along the main road in. Had camera with me not expecting to see much but there were red haws (made me think of autumn) some old mans beard, rather interesting lichen but chose this gall (I think thats what there called!) on the dog rose. Someone tell me please if I have got it wrong!
Busy this afternoon trying to get organised for hols.
