An eyeful of cactus

This is a bit of an experiment.  Macro lenses can get in very close but have almost no depth of field without resorting to stacking images.  This is taken not with a macro but with a fisheye and an 8mm extension tube.  It gives remarkable depth of field but the drawback is that the point of focus is only about 4mm from the front element of the lens so it is difficult to light and there is a risk of the front element colliding with your subject.
