Contrasts, Campbeltown

I was in Kintyre and Cambeltown today, meeitng constituents and holding a surgery.

This statue of Sir William MacKinnon sits outside the Aqualibrium, the wonderful Council owned swimming pool / library / cafe / meeting place which has great views down Campbeltown Loch.

The contrast between the upright , granite plinthed image of a Victorian imperialist (who was also a free chuch mission supporter and a benefactor of education for "highland lads" ) and the almost sensual sweep of 21st century acrhcitecture never fails to draw my eye and make me reflect on time, reputaton and change.
