Boundary Dwellers

Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir

A trip out to the Musee de la Cinematographie in Frank Gehry's building at Bercy led us to this wonderfully sinuous bridge. It carries pedestrians over the Quai de Bercy, the River Seine and the Quai F. Mauriac from the parkland by the museum to the National Library.

Walking back along the Quai Mauriac towards the city, we discovered that the spaces below the bridges and the roadway along the quai have been set up as venues for clubbing.

All very different from the grand and beautiful 16th-early 19th century Paris we are so familiar with.
