Talla & Gameshope I

Met up with about 20 other folk at the Megget Stone for a weekend of tree planting on the Borders Forest Trust's recently-acquired estate. The aim was to plant 6000 very small "trees" at about 700m, on and below Talla crag. The weather wasn't great, despite the break in the sky which yielded this rainbow, and I didn't enjoy the experience as much as in spring of last year at BFT's adjacent Carrifran project. Planting dwarf willow, juniper and aspen on steep rocky slopes is hard work.

I was glad to knock off and wander back to where we were camping - beside BFT's storage barn. The chat was good and I got to sleep early.
