The sky over the Horse of Copinsay

I left the house and cycled off to try and find waxwings this afternoon, and had only gone a few metres when I heard their burbling conversation. There were about 25 on treetops by the block of flats on Buttquoy Place. I managed a couple of snaps before they flew off. Earlier I was helping Alan and his colleague ring in Deerness- mainly goldcrests and redwings, and 1 snipe. We saw 40 black-tailed and 5 bar-tailed godwits and 13 knot at St Peter's Pool and then we had 8 crossbills over, a poss. Siberian chiffchaff and a very vocal female northern bullfinch at Langskaill. The main photograph was taken as I walked around looking for migrant birds in the fields.
