Planing

There is something really satisfying about using a hand plane.  The electric planes are much faster and are easier to use but they make a horrible mess and have none of the satisfaction of the hand tool.

I had a quick planing job to do and decided to use my hand plane which produced these lovely curls.

My woodwork teacher would have had a fit if he had seen me put my plane face down on the workbench as in this picture .  He drummed into me that I should always place it on its side.
