Poor Cat

Took Jonty out for a walk and noticed this grey, striped, cat across from our house just lying on the ground. He didn't run away but we were going the opposite way so thought nothing of it.
When we came back he was still there so I, and Jonty, walked up to him to see if he was ok. He hissed at Jonty, who gave no reaction, barking or any noise. I think Jonty sensed something was wrong. The cat wasn't crying in pain at all and when I tried to turn him over he just rolled the top part of his body, the back end staying still.
I took Jonty in and Marlane went out to look at him, she took a small bowl of water too which he was very grateful for and had a big drink.
I asked a couple of neighbours if they knew the cat and in the meantime Marlane phoned the vets who said to bring him up and they'd look at him. I got a box and blanket out of the garage and we put him in and whisked him away to the vets.
Luckily he is microchipped and the family are clients of the same vet where we take Foxy and Jonty.
They are contacting the family and will call us later to let us know the outcome.
His name is Barney by the way, a BIG cat but obviously well cared for and very gentle. Hope he is ok.
