Thumbs Up

This is the eleventh artwork that has been placed on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, London, opposite the National Gallery.

Called 'Really Good', the bronze 7m high sculpture by David Shrigley, represents 'positivity and the best of us'  while the elongated thumb is designed to present a message of optimism.

Went up to Victoria Station this morning and was shocked that this area of London, including the station, is one huge building site. Tried to walk past Buckingham Palace but was engulfed by thousands of tourists lining the streets, with street barriers preventing crossing the roads. What is going on we asked a friendly policeman - Changing of the Guards he replied. A daily event that obviously attracts a lot of people and police.

St James Park was a delight with many beautiful birds, ducks and geese - a quieter haven away  from the crowds.

Then on to lunch at Cote to meet with cousins, Gloria and Jack,  to spend a  few delightful hours catching up on all the news.

Back to Victoria, and a glass each of champagne sitting outside a bar in the afternoon sunshine. Its been a glorious day - weatherwise and meeting up with good friends.
