A Simpler Life

We left Bethlehem, PA, this morning and headed to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Towson, MD. On the way, we traveled on back roads in Amish country to avoid the added stress of heavy traffic. Knowing my cousin was so ill was enough stress for one day. I longed for the simpler life of our childhood. We doubted we'd get to visit him in intensive care but wanted to lend support to my aunt (his mom), his children, his wife, his brothers and the rest of the family. It wasn't the way we had anticipated ending our adventure of a lifetime, but it is what we wanted and needed to do today. Our family has always been close and we are there for each other. His condition is still critical and it felt good to stand by his hospital room door and pray.
