In the dim distant past when I were 'a lad', there was one big battery company in this country, and a few minor ones.

Ever Ready started as a subsidiary of the American company of the same name, but became independent. Many years later the German and Italian subsidiaries of the UK company were sold to Duracell, and then after that the remaining UK company was sold to the parent company of the American Ever Ready company and became part of Energizer.

So Ever Ready (in the UK) is effectively no more, having become Energizer and Duracell in different places.

So batteries in the UK are Ever Ready no more, my contribution to the theme of Ready.
