It was fairly warm while eating our picnic lunch near the Tweed at Melrose and we watched several large fish jumping and sending ripples to disturb the calm water just above the rapids.  The sun flitted in and out of the clouds but as we drove back home the sky got darker and darker.   I remarked how dark it was getting at half past 3 before realising that S had just altered the clocks ready for tonight’s hour change from BST.
(Someone had a bonfire so the smoke was sweeping across the river in the distance.)
