Last of the sun

High cloud catches the last of the sunset above Perth.

I replaced the original version of this photo almost immediately. I wanted something dramatic, and had used Aurora HDR, but there was a dreadful halo around the church. This version is just a single exposure with some help from Topaz Clarity.

I really wanted to like Aurora, not least because I've paid for it :-). Lightroom's HDR is good for realism but sometimes it can't handle extremes of lighting as much as I'd like. I was hoping Aurora would be good for that, but I'm finding hard to control. Any suggestions?
